As a community college educator, I really value the creation of a classroom environment where my students can speak their minds freely and without fear of retribution in terms of their grade. I also know that students nowadays are incredibly connected to the internet and can discover my blog with ease should they wish. Keeping all of this in mind, when I blog, I will refrain from political advocacy or any other kind of rhetoric that might make a current or potential student of mine less likely to express their viewpoint for fear of contradicting the teacher and the potential of having it harm their performance and/or grade in my class. But know these three things: (1) I welcome all viewpoints here, as long as they are thoughtfully, ethically, and respectfully expressed, and (2) feel free to ask me anything--I may not choose to answer, but feel free to ask anyway!
